This Is Our Moment In Time To Rebuild

The US has announced 25% tariffs on Canadian exports, and another 10% on Canadian energy. Canada and Mexico have responded with measured, retaliatory tariffs. There will be a war of words, and arguments from both sides.

This trade war will likely severely deplete Canada's economy. Canada is, right now, as financially stable as it will be over the coming years. Trudeau's promise to support and aid the industries that are out of work helps stabilize the country, but it does appear to drive us forward to long-term stability or prosperity.

Living next to a flailing superpower in decline means learning to depend on it less, not simply waiting until it flails in a way that doesn't inconvenience us in a moment.

We are at a moment in time. Canada can never be certain in its economic strength until it diversifies its trade. It must fund projects that bring about our economic independence.

Simply stabilizing our economy is not the best use of funds. We cannot bet on the US returning to "normal" anytime soon.
